so, i was talking to a cabbie in palm springs about alternative energy – he used to work on wind turbines before an injury forced him to look for a new gig. we were talking about wind power, but then he made a great point. why isn’t there more use of solar power in palm springs and towns like it that get 364 days of sun a year? he then told me that there is a new technology that actually transforms almost any surface into a solar panel. paint.

now this is hot…pun intended. the process uses nanotechnology to create micro tubes that absorb light wavelengths and transform them into electric current via a photovoltaic cell. just paint, wait until dry and voila’ a solar panel is created. ok, probably a bit more complicated than that, but way cheaper and easier to apply solar power now. looking forward to seeing the applications.
