ducati is announcing the new diavel that will make its first appearance at the eicma international motorcycle show this coming november in milan. hard to say what category of bike it will be, but it seems likely that it will be a competitor to the harley-davidson vsrc series of bikes and the like. hmmm….
the name derives from the local bolognese dialect for “devil” – pronounced dee-ah-vel. the idea for the diavel name came early, when a prototype was assembled and wheeled out for the first time. one person looking from the rear of the bike saw its silhouette and exclaimed in bolognese dialect: “ignurànt comm’ al diavel!” which means: “evil, like the devil!”
so far there is very little detail around the diavel, but ducati is promising it will be both lightweight and agile, and will incorporate abs, ducati traction control and ducati riding modes. engine-wise, it will be powered by ducati’s testastretta 11° power plant.
